This is my blog where I write stuff that interest me: religion, politics etc…

meet Lola, my new black panther

Two weeks ago I adopted this little black cat. Her name was Lulu and I changed it to Lola. She came from a non-profit organisation called Kat Zoekt Thuis. My first cat was also black and shy, but this little panther is something else. Unlike Simba who had little hiding places in 2016, Lola has a few spots where she can really can hide herself and she does that. In time she will open up, but it will take some time before that happens.
Simba had no trouble going into a open litter box. Lola has a problem with it, so I had to get a closed one. Luckily I had some good advisors to help me with Lola so she could adjust. Thank you Krissie and Sylvie for your advice and help.
right now my home looks a bit chaotic because there are some boxes I placed for Lola so she could hide herself in it.
Shy cats take more time and patience to help them adjust to a new home. Meaning one needs to adapt to the cat, so in the long run the cat can get used to you. This means putting boxes in the house so she has extra hiding places where she can go to if she needs it.
it also means you need to help them explore the house. Preferably it is best to keep them in one location but when it is not a option, you can do what I did. Put cat treats on the floor like a line to where you want her to go, so it can be a extra incentive for her to explore the new house.
luckily she did do that.
Today right before I left to go to work, I was preparing her morning meal when she jumped from her hiding place to greet me. She saw me and went back to it. It’s progress if she shows herself while you are in the room. So little steps at a time.
