this miniseries is a prequel series of the events that lead to the conjunction of the spheres in the Witcher universe. It also shows the first creation of the Witcher, or more like a prototype of a Witcher. Overall I enjoyed the miniseries. Is it perfect? No, but it doesn’t have to be perfect. Its foremost job is to entertain and it did just that, entertain. If the creators want to expand the Witcher universe, they have to delve into the lore of the books and create better characters and stories.
Now, i know this miniseries gets a lot of hate from people who don’t like it even before seeing it. I haven’t read the books, nor have i played the games, so i cant compare with those things and how it holds up. That being said, i do find that a lot of hate cames from the same space as with Rings of Power series where it got a lot of flack for portraying elves as people who are non-white. Here we have something similar. It is accused of being woke and all that bullshit. The reason of that is that a black elf is the ancestor of Ciri, a white girl played in the show. This miniseries takes place 1200 years before the events of season 1, so in that time, that ancestor could become white. I guess science isn’t their strong suite of this anti-woke people.
Is it ridiculous? Yes of course. The names of the characters got lost to me, but Fjall, Eire, Scian, etc… were ok characters.I admit it. I had to look it up.
The problem is that people are upset that Henry Cavill is leaving the Witcher. While initially he left to take on the mantle of Superman again, which was awesome of course. That was shortlived when it was announced that Henry Cavill wouldn’t return as Superman. I even admit that i was upset that he left The Witcher and would be replaced by Liam Hensworth, brother to Chris Hemsworth. The fact that later James Gunn as the head of DCUE decided to drop Cavil as superman, pissed people off. And rightfully so.
