This is my blog where I write stuff that interest me: religion, politics etc…

The Russo-Ukrainian War, 1 year later.

Yesterday was the mark of the one year anniversary since Russia invaded Ukraine. This war created a lot of misery for the Ukrainian people. This conflict started in 2014 after the maidan revolution that ousted the pro-Russian president. The west, especially NATO invested a lot of time, energy and weapons to the country.

While some Ukrainians claim that this war is a war because they are Ukrainian, this couldn’t be further from the truth. This war is about power, money and sphere of influence. NATO knows they can’t attack Russia directly without resulting into a nuclear war, so this war gave them the opportunity to draw Russia into a prolonged conflict where Russia military is exhausted. That is what they are trying to accomplish. Peace talks were discontinued. Since the Russian army is not making a real victories the last year shows how in what kind of bad shape the Russian army really was. On paper it looked great. In reality, a lot of money that went into the army to modernize it, went into the pockets of shady busisnesmen.

Russian military is not familiar with conquering countries. Blow things up, that they are good at, but conquest is something else. With war comes cruelty, cruelty against enemy combatants, against civilians. This is true for any war. And war is hell.

After the fall of the USSR, corruption was at all time high, further fueled by western policies, this lead to the creation of the Russian state as it is now, a corrupt capitalist state just like the USA is.

This war is not a genocide against Ukraine. For it to be a genocide, it would have been very different war. A genocide implies that the agressor seeks to exterminate the populace of a certain region. This is not the case.

Still, this war is not about killing Ukrianians for the sake of that they are Ukrainians. Its about power and money than anything else. I know that many Ukrainians will not agree with me and thats fine. This is my opinion on it. I want the war to stop just as much as they do, as much as Russians living in Europe or elsewhere do. Will there be Russians who believe in the propaganda that their goverment is telling? Of course. Don’t hate them. Talk with them. Listen o what they are telling and than counter with facts.

Hating Russians now is understandable, but you have to make a distinction here. Its human to want to do that. I get it. Its perfectly ok to hate Putin, the Russian soldiers in Ukraine. That’s ok. I understand that. But targeting Russians living in Europe because of the war is wrong. It does nothing to help heal the country afterwards. There are also Russians living in Ukraina. You can’t expel them from the country because of the war which they had no part in it. Doing that would make you no better than what Stalin or Russian emperors did before. By hating Russians you allow to create division and discrimination amongst the people. That will not help anyone.

This war will not stop on its own. Both NATO and Russia have to much invested in it to stop. The peace talks will have to start up again and one thing is clear: Donbass is Ukrainian, Krim is Ukrainian. So long as the west profits from this war, it will not stop. Weapons manufacturers are making huge profits by making and selling weapons to Ukraine. The USA is making profits of selling their more polluting gas to Europe. Russian oil was cheaper. If Ukraine wins, they will most likely join Europe and NATO. I don’t mind Ukraine joing European Union. That way, people who were doctors there, can become doctors here as well. Now, anyone from Ukraine who has a medical degree can’t use it in EU because they don’t recognize it.

Lets talk about the elephant in the room here?

What Russia is doing is no different from what USA did in Iraq, Afghanistan, Libya, Vietnam, etc… Is it bad? Hell yeah. Its terrible, especially for the people living there. Is Putin a war criminal? Yes. But so is Bush Jr. for what he did in Afghanistan and Iraq. Putin’s excuses for invading Ukraine is bullshit.

Does Ukraine have a far right and nazi problem? Yes, it does. So does Russia and all western countries. That is no basis to invade another country for it. There is no legitimate reason to invade another country. War is a game played by the elite and the people have to suffer it. What we need is peace and the laying down of the weapons by both side. Only then can there be peace.

If Ukraine comes out of this war in one piece, its has a long read ahead of itself. That includes rebuilding and healing its citizens. That will be a long and hard road. But they can’t join NATO. NATO is nothing more than a imperialistic agency employed by the elite to maintain their power and influence over the entire world. NATO was originally created to counter the USSR, but since its collapse, NATO has not been disbanded as it should have been. NATO has been expanded east which made Russia nervous because they see the rise of various NATO basis’ popping up everywhere near their border. Any non-NATO country would rightly so feel nervious about this.

What I also find worrisome is that there are volunteers fighting there in Ukraine for the Ukrainian military. “Volunteers” went to Syria to fight for ISIS and were condemned for being terrorists. Who are these volunteers who went to Ukraine to fight there? If they are far right extremists, than they can return as potential homegrown terrorists when they return? That is a problem in itself.

I do hope that this war stops soon. Enough people have died already because of it. Enough people suffered because of it. And for what? So that the elite can become richer and more powerful? That is what this is all about and all for. Not to kill Ukrainians for being just Ukrainians. Not for freeing the donbass. Not to free Ukraine from nazi’s. Its about power. Instead of a Game of Thrones, we have a live Game of Power being unfolded before our eyes. That game has been played for centuries now. And Ukraine is being played by both sides. This war is nothing short of a proxy war between NATO and Russia. And the common people. They have to suffer it, shed their tears and blood for a cause that they don’t want to be a part of, nor have a desire of it, to be part of it.
