For my work, I attended a seminar about trans people. Now I’m a open minded person and truth be told, if someone I knew told me that they are trans I would support them. It would be strange to see their transition taking place but I would be supportive. As of now, I don’t know anyone that told me that they are trans.

Trans people as LGBTQ are also human rights and the far right are using them to attack gay rights and go as far as trying to equate transgender as grooming of children. As the person in the seminar explained it. Even if you identify as trans, before you can even undergo the transition, you have to see a psychologist or psychiatrist to make sure that you are sure of yourself that you want to do this. This tactic makes it possible that less than 1% wants to revert the change they underwent.

Now I don’t have any problems with trans people or LGBTQ in general. But we have to admit that the topic of trans is a heated one, full of emotion and less with facts but also the media is feeding the fear by focussing on it constantly because it is new and is sensational. That is why society is trying to find a balance in all of this and tends to go to extremes to try to find a balance in all of this. They will land in the middle but not before some time I’m afraid and after the novelty of trans people has worn out and they find something else to focus on. Is this good? Yes and no. Right now the far right is targeting trans people because they want to take LGTBQ rights away. They are already doing that in USA and Italy. We must never forget that the far right are never allies for anyone except capitalists.

How I deal with it? Well I’m a straight male. I look at all the information that comes in as to what is useful and what isn’t. What isn’t, I discard. One thing that I never questioned was my sexuality. I’m attracted to women. I get that sexuality can be fluid for some. For me it isn’t. I want to end this post by stating that I’m an ally to LGBTQ people. Their rights are also human rights. I try to treat everyone as a human being. I do say try because sometimes my tolerance for stupidity is low and I will not tolerate intolerance.
