while writing the last blogpost on the Orphic hymn to Plouton, i started to make a list of the many epithets of Plouton. When praying to Him, I don’t use all of them, I usually say “under which name and or title you are known or want to be know”. So here we go:
The epithets of Plouton
Although Plouton has epithets that are very unique for Him like His rule over the Underworld. Some of them aren’t from Hellas, but from Rome. Hades Khthonios – Hades of the Underworld Hades Polyxenos/Polydegmon/Polysêmantôr, Ruler/Host of Many, Pasiánax, Adesios: Hades of the Grave, Zeus Khthonios, Larthy Tytiral (Etrurian): Sovereign of Tartarus, Ánax:, the King, Polydegmenos: He Who Welcomes All, Summanus/Manus/Mantus (L):, Prince of the Dead. Niger Deus (L) – Hades, the Black God || Hades of the Infernal Regions

Agesilaos – Who Calls Man To The Underworld
Nekrôn Sôtêr – Saviour of the Dead
Hesperos Theos – God of Death and Darkness (for those who believe he and Thanatos are the same deity)
