After seeing the season 3 finale twice now, i will review the series. Each season has 10 episodes Season 4 is announced, so the story continues so that is good news. so like I said, spoiler alert for those who haven’t seen it yet and haven’t seen the finale either.

If you haven’t heard of this show, its a good horror show that leans more on characters than on gore to deliver the horror. The tv show follows mainly the Matthews family who arrived in te town. A town where at night monsters show up in human form to hunt and kill people. Something that was made more dififcult when Boyd, the town’s sherrif found the amulets that stopped the monsters from entering closed places like homes, motorhomes, tents. The arrival of the Matthew family wasn’t the only one. Jade and his friend also arrived on the same day and caused a accident that trapped Ethan in the motorhome. From there we are introduced to the rest of the main characters like Kristy, Sarah, Donna, the leader of Colony house, Victor, Fatima, the wife of Boyd’ s son Ellis, Father Kathri, and later Elgin, Randall, Mari, Acosta, etc…

So From takes place in a town where no one can escape from. The moment you see a tree on a road and the crows, you are already stuck there. The first season deals with the Matthews settling in and Jade also and he tries to figure out the place. Some tell him that this was also done before to no avail, but he doesn’t give up. When Sarah tries to kill Ethan because voices tell her to, and kills her brother by accident instead, her fate was supposed to be sealed. She was to go into the box, so that the monsters have their way with her like they did with one resident who was drunk and wasn’t there to stop his daughter from opening the window and be killed along with her mother. When Father Kathri captures Sarah, he figures out that she is connected to this place, something that is worth keeping her around to. Like with the other resident, Boyd is reluctant to put her into the box and while the other resident went in voluntary, he decides to go out there with her to find a way out. They come across a lighthouse, spiders and a storm that forces them to go into a tree and Boyd ends up somewhere in a well.

Meanwhile, the Matthew family started digging in the cellar while Jade has figured out a way to try to contact others by using Colony House as a means to an end. When the tower is activated, they received static, not nothing like they expected. Before the storm threatens everyone, and everyone is forced inside Colony House, a voice tells Jim that his wife shouldn’t be digging that hole. He goes to his wife, while the rest goes inside. When he arrives, Tabitha, has fallen down and the house becomes unstable that it starts to implodes. This while a bus of people arrives at the diner.

Season 2

Season starts where season 1 left off, with the bus and the aftermath of the storm. While Boyd is gone, Kenny and Donna try to get the people off the bus and safe before nightfall, meanwhile the Matthew house collapses on Jim, the Bartender and one guy from the bus. Except for Jim, the other two die. One from being wounded, the other by one of the monsters. Most of the people on the bus are gathered in the diner, but some of them have escaped but when they meet the monsters, they all die. This has had an impact on Fatima, who loses it because she can’t help people. From all the people, Randall and Elgin as Mari stick out. Mari being the fiancee of Kristy, Randall because he is being a dick and Elgin because he has a dream about the town before they arrive.

In the tunnels, Tabitha finds Victor as well. In the tunnels, Tabitha has a vision of the place and starts seeing some creepy girls. Boyd is helped out of the well by a man called Martin, but the weird thing is, he was in shackles against the wall, so he couldn’t have thrown the rope. So who did? Until the end of season 3, we found out who that really was. We find out that Mari has a addiction problem that she is trying to get rid of. Boyd finds out that something is running in his veins. Something that Martin gave him. When Ellis gets stabbed and taken to the hospital where Kristy and Mari are, Boyd does something insane, cuts one of the monsters neck, whom is dubbed Smiley because he smiles alot. He also cuts himself and places his blood in the wound of Smiley. Smiley laughs but after a while dies on the spot. The other monsters are not really phazed by it and leave.

Season 3

Season 3 starts off with the world was changing. Winter was coming to the town. The series start with the monsters changing tactics. They release the farm animals to lure the people into the streets. And it works. They were able to trap Boyd and Kenny’s mom. They hold them and make Boyd watch while they slaughter Kenny’s mom. They make him watch to break him. Fatima finds out that she is pregnant, but something is off about the pregnancy. Tabitha finds herself in the real world again and has trouble adjusting. She was able to track down Victor’s father and found out that Victor’s mother had visions of the town before they even set foot in it. after getting in a car accident, the ambulance with Victor’s dad, Tabitha, a cop called acosta and two medics end up back in town. The monsters quickly kill the medics but when Boyd is looking for the keys of the ambulance to save Tabitha and the old man, one of the monsters just hands over the keys. They want Randall who is seizering on the ground. Boyd thinks they will kill him, but they don’t. They wound him but do not kill him. Acosta in her panic of what is happening accidently kills a member of Colony House. Acosta tries to affirm her position of cop to Boyd and Donna but they wont have any of it.Julie finds out that she can walk throughout time and events when she is located in the ruins. So we find out that it was her who threw the rope down in the well when Boyd was there before finding Martin. But Julie does not physically move through time. When she goes back, her body lies on the ground.

Fatima is hungry but can only eat certain things that seem weird, but even needs to drink blood. a weird figure appears to Elgin that he needs to help Fatima and trap her in the cellar. Which he does after Fatima accidently kills a old woman and Boyd and Ellis hide her in a cabin. Fatima’s pregnancy appears supernatural as the monitor can not detect any fetus. It appears that whatever controls the place, uses Fatima to have Smiley, one of the monsters who Boyd killed using worms in his blood, reborn. Boyd went after the lady in kimeno and watches in horror while Smiley is reborn. Through Jim, Jade and Tabitha find out that the numbers in the bottles are musical notes and when Jade starts playing the creepy looking children appear and both Jade and Tabitha remember what happened. The revelation was shocking to say the least.

heavy spoiler alert

appearently the town was build around 1500 and some of the residents made deals with an entity for to have eternal life, several children need to be sacrificed. Jade and Tabitha represent parents who refused to do it and tried to save the children but failed and were reincarnated every time and every time they end up in the town. It was known that whenever you saw the tree on the road, you were already there and there was no way back. Martin did warn that the monsters were just tip of the iceberg and when he was gone, it took three people: Marielle, Julie and Randall who were first swarmed by cicadas i think. Which means that those three are connected to the place which meant that even the monsters won’t kill them, hurt them yes, but not kill them. Randall proves that. The man in yellow who shows up at the end of episode 10 seems to be in charge or send in to clean up the mess. He made it clear that knowledge comes at a cost there and finding out major information means direct intervention from him. He kills Jim in front of Julie, who seem to have come from the future because she looks different.

overall in the last season we seem to be getting answers about what the place is about and what made it tick. It seems that they have learned from Lost on how not to do it. I have heard that From was supposed to last 5 seasons, which means that we are near the end and we will be getting more answers and the reaction of the place will be more severe and it will most likely become more dangerous.

From is definitly one of the best tv shows out there next to House of the Dragon. I’m curious as to how it will end up. They slowly start to give information on what made it tick. I know that there are various theories out there about From, and while some of them are entertaining, i will wait and see how it will turn out. Its more fun this way.
