4 years of war

4 years ago, on the 24th of February 2022, Russia launched its special military operation that after 4 years still is ongoing with thousands upon thousands of people dead, more injured.

I don’t have  exact numbers because I’m skeptical of the numbers given. So I’m hesitant to use those numbers.

The reasons for it, while most are preposterous, some do make sense but still aren’t justifications for invading another country.

It’s hypocritical to blame Ukraine for being nazi’s while financially supporting far right parties in Europe. The Kremlin supports far right parties like Vlaams Belang, FN,etc.. . So no,  that argument is BS. It doesn’t mean that there aren’t fascists in Ukraine. There are, but they are a small minority like in most countries.

Recently they added Russophobia to the list. While a valid claim, Russophobia rose after the invasion, so that can’t be used in their defence either. Don’t get me wrong. I’m against Russophobia. I’m against any form of discrimination, including against Russians.

The NATO argument is valid, even then, its still no excuse to invade another country for it.. NATO was created to fight the USSR. When it broke up, NATO should have been disbanded, but it didn’t. It now serves as an imperialist military force for western elites. Russia, NATO, two imperialists are fighting in Ukraine over Ukraine while Ukrainians are fighting it on behalf of the western imperialists.

When a war breaks out, ask yourself the following: who benefits from armed conflicts? This is true for the current US-Iran matter but also Gaza-Israël. The military industrial complex, especially weapons manufacturers in the west as in Russia and its allies. They profit from it. They aren’t the only ones. In the west, especially Europe, we saw energy companies profit from it as well as another excuse to inflate prices. Even they weren’t the only ones who did it. Another reason why this war happened is that elites in the west as in Russia wanted to control Ukrainian resources like grain but also minerals. Whichever side has Ukraine, will profit from it. It seems that whichever side prevails, Ukraine will not be better for it. In a war, it’s the ordinary people who suffer. Be it Ukrainians, Gazans,etc.., the elites start a war and the common people bleed.

After 4 years of pain, suffering, misery and death, Not to mention the destruction of many cities, this war needs to end now. We need a ceasefire to start up negotiations to end the war. The US has made it clear that they want the resources for themselves and don’t want to share with Europe. Russia needs to get out of Ukraine. Perhaps its time for a Minks 2,0 accords and this time both Russia and Ukraine sign them and ratify them. Even then, its unsure if it will work but we need to do something to end this war.

One question that keeps popping up in my head. What will happen to Ukraine after the war? Regardless who will win, i fear that the Ukrainian people will lose. In the sense that, lets say that Ukraine is able to drive Russia out of their territories. Which would be a good thing. What then? Will it be a vassal state of the west, especially USA who seems determined to take it for themselves and handle the bill to EU. I have no issue with Ukraine joining the EU. They are welcome to do so. Joining the EU could mean positive things for the people.

What i was talking about is that companies will go in, more than before and lower their wages even more than its already. Remember unions are outlawed. After the war, the people who were fighting on the frontlines will go home with severe cases of PTSD and possible even drug addictions or alcohol addiction. The same for the Russian soldiers. This will create social drama’s for ordinary people and i doubt that both countries are capable or even willing to deal with the aftermath of the soldiers returning home. Historically speaking, soldiers with PTSD arent that well taken care off when returning home. Not just the soldiers, the people still living there, still trying to survive this war. Last winter, was the worst and people in Kyiv had no heating becaue Russian army struck their power plants. Kyivians did everything they could to survive and help their pets survive the brutal cold. The animals are also suffering during this conflict. Not just shortages of food and water, but also trauma from the shelling they had to endure. This war needs to end as soon as possible. But how? that is the main issue. A cease fire can be achieved easily i think, but peace. That might be harder to achieve at this time.
