After watching the first season of moon knight, I was impressed. Oscar Isaac is a good actor. He was perfect for the role. Ethan Hawke also. Marvel like HBO knows how to cast the right actors for the part.
The music, sets, dialogue are all excellent. The VFX also are good.
The story goes as following: Steven who works in a museumshop in London ties himself to his bed each night so he can’t walk around at night. By the end of the first episode we discover that there is more to it than just sleepwalking. There is another personality inside him called Marc Spectre.
I won’t give to many spoilers away here, but by the end you will surprised about the whole Marc/Steven situation.
Its a good show, well written and a first introduction of the character to the MCU and not to mention the first introduction of Egyptian Gods in the MCU. After the Norse Gods, it was the turn of the Egyptian Gods and now this summer also the Hellenic Gods in Thor: Love and Thunder. I like how they portrayed the Gods here. They were different than with the Norse Gods who could interact directly with the physical world, the Egyptian Gods interacted indirectly with the physical world through avatars.
Its a shame that its only a mini series but it was a great one. In itself its not a bad thing that they also do mini series. Not every show needs multiple seasons.
The show might draw some criticism from the fact that the Egyptian Gods used white people as avatars, similar to the backlash Gods of Egypt received. The thing is, the people living in Egypt now are of Arabian descent, not of ancient Egyptian descend. If im correct, we do not know how the ancient Egyptians really looked like but concerning the climate, I doubt that they are white. But concerning the Gods themselves, the Gods can look as anyone. Especially their avatars on Earth.
To me, it doesn’t really matter who portrayed the Gods so long as the acting is top notch and the plot is good. Its about the story, not really who portrayed it. Of course a Middle Eastern actor would be a better choice to portray a deity from that area.
